My partner is currently doing freelance photography and other work on the side. While I am away, he is at home giving our pets all the snuggles and treats their hearts desire. He is also on Rover, and is available to assist with any boarding/doggy daycare needs.
My dog is not required to come along for house sitting or drop-in bookings. If you're interested in your dog and her socializing while I am caring for your pup, I am more than happy to bring her along with your permission. I recommend sharing this before scheduling a meet and greet so that our doggies can meet in advance to see how they vibe together (outside of the home first, of course). However, if you are interested in booking daycare services, please be advised that my dog and 2 cats will be in my home at the time of your booking.
My apartment is a 2 bed 2 bath and is about 1,000 square feet surrounded by Mission Trails in Tierrasanta. Our complex has a dog run as well as other grassy areas for pups, including a pet-wash station. Additionally, we regularly take our dog to meet up with a trusted group of owners and their pups at a nearby park so that the pups can socialize and play together. This is an option if you feel that your dog is good off leash and you would like them to socialize with others while you're away (but only with your consent).
I strive to ensure that your pet follows the same exact schedule they typically do when they are with you. I find that this helps ease any anxiety of being in the presence of a new person and/or an unfamiliar space. I always encourage pet parents to share a Google Doc with their pet's routine so that I can follow it as closely as possible to ensure they adjust smoothly while you're away.
The maximum number of dogs that I accept are 2 at a time from the same household so that I can provide the best care possible. The only time I accept 2 dogs from different households are if both owners agree, and both dogs have undergone a M&G to gauge temperament.
Yes, I have an extra crate and I am happy to crate your pet during boarding or house sitting as requested (e.g. if they are a puppy for potty training purposes/enforced naps, overnight, or if the pet needs to be left for a short period of time).
For overnight stays in your home, I always make sure to leave spaces exactly how I found them (even during drop-in visits I take this approach). With that said, I am happy to clean anything concerning the pets (e.g. vacuuming or sweeping litter/fur, hairballs, accidents, refreshing litter boxes, etc.) in addition to general usage of the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom during my stay (e.g. taking out the trash, wiping down used spaces, cleaning dishes & putting them away, removing used linens, etc). However, I do not provide deep cleaning or laundry services (unless pet-related). I am also happy to receive packages while you're away.
I do have some informal experience working with reactive dogs. My own pup went through a reactive phase during her adolescence, and I’ve regularly walked dogs in NYC who showed leash reactivity, small animal reactivity, and fear-based responses to new people. I’m also familiar with managing resource guarding behaviors. Sharing these details with me ahead of time helps ensure I can care for your pet in a way that’s safe and supportive for everyone involved.
That said, I’m not a professional dog trainer and don’t have experience working with dogs whose reactivity or fear manifests as aggression (whether towards humans or other pets/animals). I’m happy to work with dogs who have already been trained and just need their routines and boundaries reinforced. If your pup hasn’t received that kind of specialized support yet, I might not be the best fit at this time and recommend seeking board and train for your pet while you're away.
